I guess nobody likes my weather vane. Not one comment. I'm an artist been in the smithsonian Middle atlantic Marine folklife festivial june 23 - july4th 2004 they brought my whole shop and my steelfish sculptures artwork to washington D.C. on the national mall. I can't believe nobody said anything, I thought somebody would be interested, Ithought maybe an expert about World war one planes would have been intellegent enough to know something about the red barons triplane. Plus understand art it's made out of steel if it's not good enough to make a little comment what was the use of it. steel is hard to work it and be very detailed. The prop turns and so does the motor pistons. Over a year, I was hopeing to get some advice on the planes. And get some information on the world war one planes. Thanks for nothing!

Sometime during the years prior to World War One the Bavarian Aero-Club in München issued a series of twelve poster stamps dedicated to the effort of various aircraft designers. Number four depicted the aircraft of Robert Esnault-Pelterie of 1908. The name of the possible artist, Seck, appears in the lower right hand corner of each of the stamps.

Hello OttoL, It is marked the 200th Anniversary of Manned Flight because the world's first aeronaut, Frenchman Pilatre de Rozier, ascended 28 meters on 15 October 1783 on a tethered hot-air balloon designed by the Montgolfier brothers. In fact, France was the first country (on 2 April 1794) to create a balloon company (Compagnie d'Aerosteirs) within their military. It took part in the Battle of Mauberge and the Battle of Fleurs that same year. Cheers, August

The contrast of red against the darker green is very appealing. I love this photo! It gets my imagination going as I think of the real Red Baron flying his triplane.
